Making migration easy for you

Full Convert is a fully self-tuning software. Your migration will work as expected without you needing to adjust anything.

Data types are different in SQL Azure compared to Access. We automatically adjust them as we copy the tables so you don't have to worry about it. You can adjust the mapping rules if you wish to change the following defaults:

  • binary varbinary(max) (if precision > 8000)
  • char varchar(max) (if precision > 8000)
  • datetime datetime2 (if version at least 10)
  • double float(53)
  • longbinary varbinary(max)
  • money decimal(19,2)
  • nchar nvarchar(max) (if precision > 4000)
  • ntext nvarchar(max)
  • nvarchar nvarchar(max) (if precision > 4000)
  • single float
  • text varchar(max)
  • timestamp datetime2 (if version at least 10)
  • timestamp datetime (if version earlier than 10)
  • varchar varchar(max) (if precision > 8000)

Full Convert migration in 4 easy steps

1.
Access connection

Access

We will choose Access database from the list of available source database formats and fill in connection properties. You can simply click ellipsis (...) button to select MDB or ACCDB database file. It depends on the version of your database. Access 2007 databases are contained in ACCDB files, while earlier versions are contained in MDB files.

If your Access database is protected, fill-in your password as well.

In case you use Access workgroups and security, you will need to also find your system database and specify credentials for it.

2.

SQL Azure

We will choose SQL Azure from the list of available source database engines, as SQL Azure is just a special version of SQL Server.

To connect to SQL Azure, you will need to use your server URL in the Server field, and the rest is standard (username, password, database name). Just make sure to connect using SQL Server authentication instead of Windows authentication.
