CONSOLE

Usage

FullConvertConsole.exe projectfile [switches]

The project file is the .fcpx file saved from the application. Everything else is optional. Switches are not case-sensitive, and a value that contains spaces or semicolons goes in double quotes.

Running without a project file

The console can also run without a saved project when you describe both databases on the command line:

FullConvertConsole.exe -OSC "engine=sqlserver;server=localhost;database=AdventureWorks;isWinAuth=true" -OTC "engine=postgres;server=localhost;port=5432;database=adventureworks;username=postgres;password=secret"

Both -OSC and -OTC must be given and each must include the engine parameter. All tables are copied unless you narrow them down with -TABLES. The parameters for each database are listed under Connection overrides.

Switches

Project

  • -TABLES "<table>;<table>;..." selects the tables to process, separated by semicolons. Names are case-insensitive and may include the schema, such as Sales.Orders. Use * for all tables. Without this switch, the tables selected in the project are used.
  • -TYPE <Conversion/Replication> sets the project type when running without a project file, or when saving one. Default is Conversion.
  • -S applies the differences to the target in a replication project. Without it, the data is only compared. Ignored for copy projects.
  • -SAVEPROJECT <newprojectfile> saves the project with all overrides applied as a new project file and exits without running. Handy for turning a command line into a project you can open in the application.

Logging

  • -LS <file> summary log, -LE <file> errors, -LW <file> warnings, -LSQL <file> all SQL statements sent to the target, -LSQLE <file> failed SQL statements, -LJSON <file> the detailed JSON log. Each switch overrides the corresponding log file from the project.
  • -STRATEGY <NoLogging/Overwrite/TimestampedFolder/TimestampedFiles/Append> sets the log saving strategy for the switches above, with the same meaning as in the project options. Default is Overwrite.

A file name with a folder is used as given, a relative folder counting from the current directory. A bare file name goes to the logs folder in the Full Convert application data folder.

Overrides

  • -OSC "<parameter>=<value>;..." overrides source connection parameters, -OTC "<parameter>=<value>;..." the target ones. Everything not overridden stays as saved in the project. Typical use: the same project against a different server, or a password that shouldn't be stored in the project file.
  • -OSM "<source>=<target>;..." replaces the project's schema mapping with the rules given here. Same rule syntax as in the Mapping options.
  • -OPT "<option>=<value>;..." overrides any project option by its name, for example -OPT "WorkerLimit=4;Timeout=600;DataCopying=Delta". Option names are the ones used in the project file.

Other

  • -ACTCODE <code> activates the console with your activation code when no license is found on this computer or for this Windows user.
  • -DEBUGLOG <file> writes a detailed application log for troubleshooting with our support.
